Neer Cartography has the experience and ability to produce a wide range of mapping products. From initial design through final production, we provide professionally produced, unique products tailored to you specific needs. We design mapping products for a variety of media formats; print (inkjet printers & plotters, digital or traditional presses), Internet and World Wide Web, Portable Document Format (PDF), television and others.

Map Proofing

Do you have a map or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) project that you would like to publish? Want to make sure that your files are correct for the medium you want to publish to? Have Neer Cartography take a look at your map or project. We will make sure that you files are ready for publishing. If we run across any inconsistencies, we will provide you a list of items you should double-check or even remove. We check a variety of points including, colors (CMYK versus RGB), layer organization, text placement, symbolization, spelling, and overall layout to name a few. And if you want, we will correct them for you. We will send your revised files back to you in a press-ready format.

Map Conversion

Need a printed map converted to digital? An old map that requires updating? Neer Cartography will scan and digitally enhance maps, from simple cleaning to vectorizing the entire map. We will provide you with your choice of a printed product, negatives, or digital files.

Data Translation Services

Neer Cartography can import and convert many Geographic Information Systems (GIS) file formats to Postscript. We can import DXF files, ArcInfo Generate files, ArcInfo Export files (.e00), ArcView Shape files (.SHP), MapInfo .MID and .MIF files, and USGS DLG and SDTS files without losing the layers or geographic information. We can convert other GIS file formats to postscript without geographic information attached, contact us for more information. Once we've imported your files, we can send you the files back as Postscript files (.EPS or .PS), Adobe Illustrator files, Adobe Acrobat files (.PDF), Macromedia Freehand files, ArcView Shape files or MapInfo .MID/.MIF files.

Research

Neer Cartography is compiling the most comprehensive road database of Humboldt County, California. In the areas that we have completed, our databases exceed those held by the County of Humboldt departments of Public Works and Planning. Many of our databases rival those used by Emergency Services.
